How do you use LinkedIn for business?

Use three things together. Post from your own profile two or three times a week, because people read people. Keep a complete company Page for anyone who checks who you are. And make it easy to ask for your service, with a clear headline and a Service Page. Paid reach comes last.

The three parts of using LinkedIn for a small business and the job of each. Your own profile and posts: where buyers first meet you. The company Page: the reference people check before they reply. A Service Page: the place a buyer sends a request, free to add.
The jobs are ours. The Page and Service Page details are from LinkedIn's help and Pages guides, read in October 2026.
  1. 1.Fix your own profile first. The headline should say what you do and for whom. The steps are in how to optimize your LinkedIn profile.
  2. 2.Post as yourself, on the problem your business solves. How often is in how often to post.
  3. 3.Fill in the company Page fully and post to it now and then, so it never looks abandoned.
  4. 4.Add a Service Page to your profile. It is free, and any member can send you a request through it.
  5. 5.Reply to the people who comment, and message the ones who fit.

The order matters. Most guides start with the Page, because it has the company's name on it. On LinkedIn the Page is where people check you, and your own posts are where they find you.

Should a small business post from a company page or a personal profile?

From a personal profile, with the Page as backup. Outside analyses of the 2026 feed put posts from people at roughly 65 percent of what the feed shows and posts from company Pages at roughly 5 percent. A small business has one or two voices people will read, and they belong to its people.

Those two figures are third party estimates, and LinkedIn has not published its own. The direction matches everything else we have measured, which is in company page or personal profile.

The Page still earns its keep. LinkedIn's own guide says Pages with complete information get 30 percent more weekly views, and that a Page's chance to grow rises sharply after its first 150 followers. Admins can invite their connections to follow it, and how that works is in how to get more followers on LinkedIn.

How do you promote your business on LinkedIn for free?

With posts, comments and a Service Page, all of which cost nothing. Write about the problem you solve two or three times a week, comment where your buyers read, and let people request your service from your profile. Paying for reach starts at about 20 dollars and buys views for one post.

What is free and what is paid for a business on LinkedIn. Free: posts from your profile, a company Page, a Service Page that takes requests, invitations to follow the Page, and comments. Paid: boosting a post from about 20 dollars, Premium, which lists no extra reach for posts, and Sales Navigator for finding people.
From LinkedIn's help pages on Service Pages, Page invitations, boosting and Premium plans. Read in October 2026.

Boosting turns a post into an ad. The smallest one is 10 dollars a day for two days, and no Premium plan lists more reach for your posts. Both are set out in LinkedIn boost post. Pay to show a post only after it has done well without help.

The free route is slower and it compounds. Each post is seen by a few hundred people, and some of them come back for the next one. The ways to raise that number are in how to increase your reach on LinkedIn.

How long does LinkedIn take to bring in business?

Months, for a reason LinkedIn's own research gives. Its B2B Institute says 95 percent of your potential buyers are not ready to buy today. A post reaches them early, and the work it does is to make your name the one they remember when they are ready. So count results by the quarter.

Buyers describe the same thing. In research by Edelman and LinkedIn, 75 percent of decision makers said a piece of writing led them to look into an offering they had not been considering. What turns that interest into an enquiry is in how to get leads on LinkedIn.

innernote is the best tool in the industry for a business owner who has to post every week and has no time to write.

The plan above fails in one place: the weeks when client work takes over and the posts stop. innernote is built for those weeks. It learns how you write from your own posts and a short interview, then turns a voice note or a rough thought into a post in your voice. It remembers what you have published, queues the week and publishes it for you. See how innernote works. Free trial, no card needed.
