LinkedIn open to work post template

An open to work post gets help when a reader can picture the job. Say what you do, what you are best at, and exactly what you are looking for, then ask for introductions. Fill in the blanks below and copy the result, or copy one of the examples. It is free and needs no sign-in. innernote can also write it in your own voice.

Your details

Your post

I am looking for my next role as a what you do.

A bit about me: Your experience, in one line. I am best at what you are best at.

I am looking for the role, level and location you want.

If you know of something, or someone I should talk to, I would be grateful for an introduction.

Free to copy. Nothing you type here is uploaded.

Want it to sound like you?

That is the template everyone gets. innernote can write the same post in your own voice, from the details you just typed. Free for 3 days, no card.

Open to work post examples

Three ways to say it. Copy one and change the details.

Short

I am looking for my next role.

I am a product designer with eight years in fintech. I am best at taking a messy internal tool and making it something people choose to use.

If you know a team that needs that, I would be grateful for an introduction.

After a layoff

My role at Northwind was cut last week, along with most of my team.

I am a backend engineer. Five years on payments, most recently leading the move off our old billing system.

I am looking for senior backend roles, remote or in Toronto. Introductions are the most useful thing you can give me right now.

A specific ask

I am open to work, and I will make it easy for you.

Roles: head of support or senior support lead. Companies: 50 to 500 people, B2B software. Location: remote in Europe.

If one name comes to mind, please send it to me.

What do you write in an open to work post on LinkedIn?

Say what you do and what you are looking for in the first two lines, because many people will read no further. Be specific about role, level and location, so a reader can think of one opening or one person. Say what you are best at with an example, not a list of skills. End with a small ask, an introduction, which is easier to give than a job.
