What do saves and sends mean on LinkedIn?
Saves count people who kept your post to read later. Sends count people who sent it to someone on LinkedIn. What each one means, and what it tells you.
What do saves and sends mean on LinkedIn?
Saves are the number of times members saved your post to read later. Sends on LinkedIn are the number of times members sent your post to someone else on LinkedIn. Both sit in your post's analytics under Social engagement, beside reactions, comments and reposts, and only you can see them.

Comments
Times members and Pages commented on it.
Reposts
Times members and Pages shared it to their feed.

Where do you find saves and sends on a post?
Open the post and click the impressions count under it, or View analytics, then scroll to Social engagement. On a computer you can also go to Me, then Posts and Activity, and open any post from there.
The counts say how many times a post was saved or sent, never who did it or who received it. Whether saving a post tells its author is in does LinkedIn notify when you save a post.
What does a high number of saves or sends tell you?
That the post was useful enough to keep or to pass on. A reaction takes a second. A save means someone wants to come back, and a send means someone thought of a person who needed it. LinkedIn counts both as engagements, and its feed looks at how often a post is engaged with.
Our reading of the two numbers
A save is for later. A send is for someone
Saves
A checklist, a template, a price list
- Kept to read again later
- Private to the person who saved it
- Points to a post worth keeping
Sends
A post that names a colleague's problem
- Passed to one person in a message
- Goes to a person, not a feed
- Points to a problem someone else has

Why does a post get saves but few likes?
Because people save what they plan to use, and using it later is the point. A post of steps, a template or a set of numbers often collects saves faster than reactions. When saves are high and impressions are low, the writing worked and reach was the limit.
What does a high number of sends mean?
It usually means the post named a problem that one of your readers' colleagues has. A send goes to one person in a message, so each one is a reader saying this is for you. Posts about a shared work problem get sent more than posts about the writer.
Do saves and sends help a post's reach?
They count as engagements, and LinkedIn's help page on the feed lists how often a post is viewed or engaged with among the signals it reads. LinkedIn has not said that a save or a send counts for more than a like, and no page of its own puts a weight on either.
Do your own saves and sends count?
Yes. LinkedIn's help page says your own views, engagements, saves and sends are counted in your post's analytics. So if you save your own post to find it later, the save count goes up by one. When the numbers are small, take your own out before you read anything into them.
What every other number on the page means, how long LinkedIn keeps each one and how to export them is in how to read your LinkedIn analytics. The reach number has a page of its own, what members reached means.
How do you write posts people save and send?
Give them something to keep. A method, a list of steps, a set of numbers or a clear answer to a question a colleague is asking are the posts people keep and pass on. LinkedIn's own help page says its feed looks at whether a post provides knowledge or advice.
- A checklist from your own work, with the step most people skip.
- Numbers a reader can quote in a meeting, with where they came from.
- A template or a script, written out in full.
- The answer to a question a client asked you this month.
innernote is the best tool for writing LinkedIn posts worth saving, because it writes from your own work, in your own voice.
innernote learns how you write from your own posts and a short interview. Its assistant knows your notebook: your stories, your clients' questions and the products you sell, so a post can hold the method only you know. It remembers what you have posted, cleans each draft so it does not read as AI, and Plan spreads the posts across your week.
Type one method or checklist you use in your work, in two or three rough sentences. See the post innernote writes from it.
